I was worried that my apartment wouldn’t really feel like home, but thanks to two bookcases in my bedroom, I’ve been able to put up all my photos and memories. These shelves have really helped to decrease the creepiness of living by myself.

Today was move in day. Surprisingly enough, everything was moved in and set up in only 2 hours. That’s probably thanks to all the help I got from a number of Jessica’s and my uncle Darrel lending a helping hand. The place looks amazing!

In an attempt to get a jump start on the move, my parents and a friend of mine took a good amount of stuff to my apartment today. It was a good sneak peak into the craziness that will be the official move in day. As the daylight was dying, we attempted to put together the futon and other tables. The apartment was covered in plastic wrappers and boxes.

We got the keys to my apartment today, which required me and my mom to go up to the apartment and check to see if everything was running properly. Afterward, we met up with my sister at the university pavilion, and I got a few more books I need for class. This entire week has been about the move and college; nothing else is on my mind.

I spent today watching multiple episodes of Gossip Girl (at home as well as at Lauren’s house) and making a new video for the channel. Later that night, a few of us hung out at Lauren’s watching the newest season of Gossip Girl on DVD. Lauren’s family now has double the furniture since they’ve moved from China back into their old house that still had all of its old furniture. There’s now all these interesting new pieces, like this bird cage turned lamp.

With moving day inching closer and closer, my room is becoming more and more empty. My dresser that was once covered with things (you can see my dresser here) now only has a few things remaining. I’m excited to be moving, but I just wish I could still keep my childhood room the way it was.

I managed to spend pretty much all of today working on my newest video for the channel David and I created (which you can go check out here). Once I finally finished editing the mountains of footage I had, I decided to pack a little bit more for the move to the apartment. My mom brought me some more boxes home, so I took down and packed a lot of photo frames I want to take to make the new apartment more homely.

Today was one of the busiest, most amazing days I’ve had in a long time. Lauren, my mom, and I all went down to Ann Arbor (the city that the University of Michigan is located in) for the first half of the day and then we headed to IKEA where we spent the next three hours on an epic shopping adventure (there’s a video showing the day’s events here). I ended up getting quite a number of things for my apartment, which is really helping soothe my worries about the move. It was also such a blast to hang out with Lauren and my mom!

With the move to the apartment only 12 short days away, I’ve begun the very sad process of packing things up from my room to take with me. I’ve spent so many years getting my room to look exactly how I like it (you can see a tour of my room here) and now I have to decide what goes with me, what doesn’t, and how to make my room still look like my room, even with large things (like the armchair that was originally in the spot that the director’s chair is now in) no longer in their places.

Today my mom and I went on a tour of the apartment complex I want to live in next fall. The building is an old hotel from the 1920s that’s being redone so it’s currently under construction. We had to wear hard hats when we were on the tour! The apartments were so beautiful and I really hope I’ll be able to live there in the fall, but it’ll be a lot better if I could find a roommate. I’m looking but haven’t been able to get one yet which is really slowing down the process almost to a halt.

My grandma passed away over this past weekend so today was spent up in West Branch emptying her apartment with the rest of the immediate extended family. After the last of the boxes was in its desired location, we all went to a local bowling alley for lunch. As we waited for our meal, my cousin and his friend decided to play some pool. Of course I couldn’t help myself and was only slightly in the way of their game as I took photos. The funeral’s tomorrow so that means another hour and a half drive back up to West Branch in the morning.

David left today to go back to Canada. We’ve spent so much time together these past few weeks in preparation for the time we’re going to spend apart, but I’m still really going to miss him.

David and I spent our last day together (before he goes back to Canada) hanging out together and trying to make the most out of the little time we had left. We went to our favorite and most sentimental playground to be there together one last time. The sun was setting as we were there and it cast such a beautiful light over everything.

I’m obsessed with movies, hence why this is just the first shelf of them. David and I spent last week watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy and I picked up a few more movies which filled up the remaining space left on the movie bookshelf. With the prospect of possibly moving in the next month, I’ve really started to wonder what’s going to happen to my beloved DVDs. I’m not going to take all of them with me, but it’s going to pain me to pick which ones are worthy to come to my apartment and which ones will have to wait years until I get a more permanent place.

It seems like all I ever think about now is college. It’s nice to have something to be working towards, but there’s so much to think about and accomplish. Currently I’m in the process of finding a roommate in order to get an apartment before the fall semester starts. Just getting the apartment is a task in itself, but I also need to start getting supplies and other things I take for granted at home that I won’t have in the apartment. My mom surprised me yesterday with a set of plates and glasses in my favorite shade of orange helping me check another thing off my ever growing list.
